Hahahaaaaa
Man do I despise shit like this that floats around the social media sphere trying to convince girls to worship the crap out of men without expecting any appreciation in return, like god forbid you want him to take you to dinner or let you stay at his “crib” (even say if it’s late and you’re really tired from another long day of “complimenting him on the regular” and “supporting him when he’s broke” LOL WHAT A JOKE). Is it me or does this thing basically just say: “Find a lady who will wipe your ass for you in every way possible and lock that down.”
How funny is that! But also not, because most girls aged 16 to 20 spending their time on the internet are impressionable baby retards who will buy anything (i.e. Sketchers Fitflops) and I’m not even going to pretend that I didn’t used to be 18 and repost shit like this on my super emo livejournal and glitter-backgrounded geocities page or whatever tumblr was back then. Facebook is now worth 100 billion dollars but us ladies are still making and posting these stupid girly text graphics all over it, telling each other you need a man to do his laundry for, to look after him, to put all your energy and time and talent into “constantly pushing him to be successful and achieve his goals in life” rather than push yourself.
Really now? This might be a delirious post induced from staying up until 3AM editing articles and procrastinating online, but something I’ve learned in the one year’s time since I finished university and actually been working struggling, partying, and dating…it’s that you can’t let yourself be an empty container and then fill it up with someone else’s life and best interests. It’s a waste of your time and talent and maybe you get the guy in the dumb tumblr meme to want to keep you around but he still doesn’t respect you because ultimately how can anyone respect the girl who lets him take a shit on her, the girl who’s just an empty container? Truth is, you treat a boy like a rockstar and he’ll treat you like a fan. Meanwhile, that other girl, the one who “lays up in the crib, spreads her legs and orders off the menu”? HAHAHA. I do NOT want to be that girl either but at least she sounds like she’s having a good time.
Where are the little reblogging text graphics that will tell a girl to not worry so much about pleasing a man or getting a boyfriend, but instead to enjoy your youth and beauty and intelligence to the max, to work hard at your job and be pleasant to your boss, to take your vitamin tablets, to go out to as many interesting places and events as possible, to be busy and fulfilled, to call your mother more often, to spend your time pursuing your goals and being brave enough to ask for favors, to initiate opportunities, to approach people, to travel more often and take advantage of situations, to look after yourself? I want it written in pink on flashy gifs.
